The main objective of the project is to make inventory of local products of Antalya and to ensure under the danger of disappearance traditional methods that are passed on to future generations.
Antalya is one of the few cities in the world in terms of regional product variety. In the diversity of local products, the region has hosted many civilizations, has rich flora and fauna, and has a great influence on the region's original climate conditions. In the study aiming at providing rural development, diversification and dissemination of tourism, 100 products in the Antalya region were identified on site, interviewed with the people preparing the products and geographical markings were made. As a result of the project, locally produced products in the centre and districts of Antalya have been made into book in order to be introduced both locally and nationally.
The project has been carried out by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality (coordinator), Association for the Conservation of Antalya Orchids and Biodiversity CAOB (co-applicant) and supported by West Mediterranean Development Agency (WMDA).
The project lasted 3 months and was carried out in three stages. In first stage, meetings were held with the officials working in the district municipalities so that the scope of the project can be transferred effectively. In second stage, a survey was conducted with the local people in each village with the help of the district coordinators. In the third stage of the project, all the questionnaires were evaluated and the products that were highlighted in the provinces were identified and detailed information about these products was collected. As a result of the project, 100 products, which are thought to be important treasures for Antalya, were recorded and a book was prepared as an auxiliary resource for the studies to be done later.
