Pamphylian Star-of-Bethlehem (Endemic to Antalya Province)

The Pamphylian Star-of-Bethlehem which is endemic to Antalya, was introduced to the scientific community in 2002. The species that is found in several localities was photographed around Saklıkent in May. It prefers altitudes of about 1800-2300 m, calcareous forest, steppe slopes and moist meadows and it flowers during May-June. The scape of Ornithogalum pamphylicum is erect. The species has about 3-13 leaves and the leaves are longer than the scape. The leaves have linear-filiform structure, and are glabrous with smooth margins. The raceme is cylindrical with about 3-25 flowers. The perianth segments are lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate shaped, white on the inside, whereas the outer surface has a white colour with green center line. The capsules are ovate-cylindrical in shape.
